An Altared Life: Part 3…Breakthroughs Happen Here

As Manoah and his wife (Samson’s parents) prepared a burnt offering on an altar, the Angel of the LORD did wonders in their sight.

When they asked his name, He said it is WONDERFUL.

The first time I ever read this story, I absolutely had a “holy come apart”!

Can you see this in your mind’s eye? Two simple people being obedient in offerings to God, witnessed wonders. The Angel of the LORD ascended in the altar’s flames:

“For it came about when the flame went up from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.” Judges 13:20
Part of an altared life involves going face down before God. Manoah and his wife knew they were witnessing something marvelous and holy and they responded with face down worship.

This barren couple needed a breakthrough – a miracle – to have a child. And here was their God making a divine promise about Samson and fellowshipping with them at an altar of sacrifice.

Do you need a breakthrough? The Great I Am still is…and He longs to show up & out in our lives. <Tweet This

But are we willing to bow our knee and get a little dust in our face as we go down to the ground at our altars? Are we even willing to light the flame on our personal prayer altars and allow God to come down and fellowship with us?

Even Jesus went face down before His Father in the Garden of Gethsamane – He needed a breakthrough in submitting to God’s will. And He found it as He bowed His knee and prayed on His makeshift altar in the garden.

Altars – a place of divine breakthroughs!
